Happy New Year!

Greetings everyone, hope you had a blessed holiday season with a lovely Christmas spent with your family and a jammin and rum-filled New Years.  You should have had AT LEAST as much fun as the dude in the photo below, who seems to be gettin jiggy despite the riot police only meters away.  Considering this is my first post for 2012, it seems appropriate to give you 12 wonderful songs which will make your ears wriggle with pleasure.

Avid readers of my blog may recall a tune called "Aaron" which I posted way back in September in my "Dreaming" post by this German DJ, Paul Kalkbrenner.  I have since really grown to like this guy, who makes electronic music ranging from deep house to driving techno.  "Gutes Nitzwerk" is my favourite off his latest album Icke Wieder.  No idea what these German terms mean, perhaps someone can help me out?

1) Paul Kalkbrenner - Gutes Nitzwerk

Read on for more music from Kalkbrenner, Deadmau5, Pryda, Youandewan, Way Out West, Gui Boratto and Tom Middleton.  As always, enjoy the music and leave a comment!

If you like that song, check out his wonderful vocal track "Sky and Sand" and also "Square 1".  They are both taken from the soundtrack to a film he starred in about himself called BERLIN CALLING.  I highly recommend it, great watch.

2) Paul Kalkbrenner - Sky & Sand

3) Paul Kalkbrenner - Square 1

As some of you will know, Eric Prydz is God.  His EPIC set I attended at Alexandra Palace in London at the end of November last year was nothing short of incredible.  Eric is a king and posted his entire set for download on his soundcloud page, so check it out!  The beauty of seeing him live is hearing him some of his unreleased gems - many of which will never be available for purchase, meaning each and every live set he plays is truly unique.  This ID is one such song... skip forward to 2 mins 15 seconds for an eargasm.  Released under his Pryda alias, I present to you, the track known by the online community as "Latitude":

4) Pryda - ID (Latitude)

Over the break Deadmau5 gave a little christmas gift in the form of a remix to his very successful collaboration with Kaskade (entitled I Remember) which is completely stripped down and quite beautiful.  The original is also included in case you don't have it, absolute must!

5) Deadmau5 - Xmas Stuff (I Remember Remix)

6) Kaskade & Deadmau5 - I Remember

No idea where I stumbled across this tune, but it is an absolute house CLASSIC.  True to electronic music, it is 13 minutes long.  Warning: skip forward to about 5 mins & 30 secs,  otherwise you are in for a very long piano buildup (very beautiful, but the ADD kids of our generation probably can't handle it).   Soon the rolling percussion begins, the piano gets bluesy around 8 minutes and a soulful voice enters as the vocalist croons "Walkin these streets so long, cause I need somebody else."  Beautiful!

7) House of House - Rushing to Paradise (Walkin' These Streets)

Deep house.  Sounds like a Beyonce sample.  Throw in the blissful instrumentals of a man named Ewan Smith from Edinburgh and you have a pretty cool track.

8) Youandewan - Youandme (On My Mind)

If you choose one song to listen to from this post, let it be this one: "1989".  I had to include this song as it is my absolute favourite by this artist.  Respect to my friend Phillip for showing me this track, 100% chillin...

9) Youandewan - 1989

Continuing with the musical theme of this post I present to you "Killa" by legendary Bristol duo Way Out West.  Again this is deep house for the patient listener, don't expect upbeat Avicii... but it is an excellent tune nonetheless, very hypnotic.

10) Way Out West - Killa

Gui Boratto strikes again, remixing another classic track by Way Out West, called "The Gift".  This Brazilian has the magic touch, I'm tellin you.  Enjoy this peaceful laidback track.

11) Way Out West - The Gift (Gui Boratto's Fallopian Remix)

Finally I give to you an awesome remix by the talented Tom Middleton which I become hooked on from the very first listen.  Thank you to my cousin Bobo for the hookup!

12) Beardyman - Where Does Your Mind Go (Tom Middleton Mix)
