Rockin the joint, rockin the jam

This is Black Eyed Peas... before they added Fergie and started making sh*tty pop music. Believe it or not they started as a hip-hop trio back in '95.   Not much else to say about this tune, but its got a laidback hip-hop vibe which I much prefer.  Leave a comment and lemme know ya thoughts on da track :)

Raise Your Weapon

For anyone who loves Deadmau5' beautiful melodies but hates dubstep - I present to you, the unruined version of "Raise Your Weapon"!  I'm all for Mr. Zimmerman branching out and experimenting, but personally dubstep aint my cup of tea and I think the breakdown at 4 mins of the original mix ruins it.  Never heard of this Ron Reeser character, but he speeds up the track, removes the dubstep & extends the original piano melody -  thus improving it tenfold in my eyes.  However, in my generous nature I have uploaded both versions for you to compare.  Credit to Lulu for this one.  Leave a comment & lemme know which you prefer...

Certified Summa Jams #2, 3, 4, 5 & 6

Now that the summer is drawing to a close, I've decided to post a few of my favourite electronic tunes that I've been spinnin non-stop este verano.  First up we've got a remix that Swedish House Mafia did of Coldplay's latest single "Every Teardrop is a Waterfall".  Despite the pretty lame name, the original is a wicked tune (with a very cool music video) & the Swedish trio added their midas touch to make it ready for the dancefloor.  The version I have is just a rip from Pete Tong's Radio 1 show - not sure its being officially released, so you'll have to settle for this 3 minute version.  The drop at 1:55 is brilliant, pure madness!

New Weezy

Lil Wayne's highly anticipated new album, THA CARTER IV, drops August 29th 2011.  Drizzy leaked Lil Wayne's 4th single on his blog last week.  It's called She Will and features Young Money's hottest property, Lil Wayne and Drake.  The link he posted allows you to stream it but not download it, so I uploaded it again on Hulkshare so you can put she on your iPod.  Somewhat average song in my opinion, but I love hearin Wayne's rhymes and this star duo's collabs are always popular.  God knows  what "She Will" do, but anyways... this track follows his other singles: "6 Foot 7 Foot", "John" and "How to Love".  Leave a comment and lemme know wutcha tink.

Afroki

Afroki = Afrojack & Steve Aoki... two electro producers & DJs who appear to be among the craziest on the scene. On Monday they released "No Beef", an absolute electro banger with both vocal and instrumental mixes. They made a pretty comical video to accompany the release, documenting them partying around Las Vegas drinking from little bottles of alcohol labelled "Afroki", getting tattoos and engaging in other debauchery.

new (and somewhat old) mau5

Not sure how old this is, but last week Mau5Trap Recordings (Deadmau5' record label) released the below video on their YouTube page.  From the comments ppl say its a mashup of a few unfinished versions of "Sleeping Beauty Pills" on his Soundcloud page (username fuckmylife, lol).  Either way the track shows Deadmau5 gettin all deep and poetic with his computer voice / personal voice spoken lyrics over a slow piano melody.  The video is equally trippy and fits the song well.  It starts off a bit like his releases as of late which I haven't been a huge fan of (see "Where Are My Keys" - too damn repetitive!) but eventually has the classic mau5 breakdown over a slow/haunting piano and kickdrum beat.

Certified Summa Jam #1

From now on Imma release a series of posts with songs I feel should be on your summer playlist.  The first of these shall by the latest collab between Tinie Tempah and Wiz Khalifa, entitled "'Till I'm Gone" - which was released for free on his official mixtape Foreign Object.

Tinie Tempah is probably unknown to most people in the Bahamas, but he's a British rapper who blew up when he released his first single "Pass Out" around Feb 2010 in the UK.  I still remember hearing it on the radio for the 1st time and being instantly hooked by the man's hilarious rhymes and the club-ready
drum n bass beat.  Since then he's linked with the Swedish House Mafia to create the banger "Miami 2 Ibiza" and released a whole string of his own singles.

These Sounds Fall Into My Mi e i e iiiind

Kenny Dope is an American dance musician from the 80s and 90s.  In '95 he brilliantly sampled a classic rock 'n roll tune, using the main horn melody (which I find just plain awesome) to create an infectious house hit which he aptly titled "The Bomb".  Yall younger generation should recognise the same melody from Pitbull's "I Know You Want Me (Calle Ocho)".  This classic rock n' roll tune I'm referring to is none other than the 9 minute long "Street Player" by Chicago.  Interestingly enough, the original features Maynard Ferguson on trumpet (a legendary Canadian jazz musician) and Airto Moreira on percussion.  The latter has a wicked tune called "Samba de Flora" which I know from the Fifa Street 2 soundtrack (Sean will remember this one, considering all the cut hip I layed upon him ova da years :P).

Drake Drizzy Rogers

Man of the moment, actor-turned rapper Aubrey Drake Graham, has just released the first official single from his highly anticipated follow-up to his debut album, entitled Take Care - to be released on his 25th birthday, October 24th 2011.  The song is called "Headlines" and features production from Drake's homies and long-time collaborators Boi-1da and 40.  Some of you may know I'm already a big fan of Drake, who unleashed my favourite hip-hop mixtape of all time (So Far Gone) and a pretty decent debut called Thank Me Later.  His latest track is called HEADLINES and is pretty typical of Drake at least content-wise, with an egotistical flow about partying but also has a catchy chorus singing "They know, they know, they know" over a hypnotising beat pulsating with synths.
