Kenny Dope is an American dance musician from the 80s and 90s. In '95 he brilliantly sampled a classic rock 'n roll tune, using the main horn melody (which I find just plain awesome) to create an infectious house hit which he aptly titled "The Bomb". Yall younger generation should recognise the same melody from Pitbull's "I Know You Want Me (Calle Ocho)". This classic rock n' roll tune I'm referring to is none other than the 9 minute long "Street Player" by Chicago. Interestingly enough, the original features Maynard Ferguson on trumpet (a legendary Canadian jazz musician) and Airto Moreira on percussion. The latter has a wicked tune called "Samba de Flora" which I know from the Fifa Street 2 soundtrack (Sean will remember this one, considering all the cut hip I layed upon him ova da years :P).
For some reason "The Bomb" was subtitled "(These Sounds Fall into My Mind)", despite the original sample clearly singing "Street sounds swirlin' through my mind", but anyway! It is undeniably one of the classic dance/house tunes of the nineties. I hope this brings back happy memories from your childhood and hearing it on the radio, like it did for me. Njoi...
